Millisecond-Response Eye Safety Barrier – SingTown Technology Empowers Intelligent Upgrade of Optical Instruments

In medical testing, laser ranging, optical scanning, and other instruments, to ensure user safety, it is necessary to confirm whether the operator's eyes are open or correctly focused on the detection window before laser emission.
Traditional infrared or mechanical sensors face challenges in accurately detecting human eye states, resulting in frequent unintended laser activations and presenting safety hazards.
To this end, medical and optical instrument manufacturers have adopted SingTown's OpenMV intelligent camera recognition technology, integrating AI machine vision and pupil detection algorithms to achieve rapid identification of human eye open/closed states and enable safety linkage control.
The system can operate stably under laser light source irradiation, ensuring the instrument safely initiates when "the subject's eyes are open" and automatically ceases emission when "eyes are closed" or "no eyeball is detected.

To further enhance equipment safety, medical and optical instrument manufacturers have implemented rapid recognition of human eye open/closed states and safety linkage control based on SingTown Technology's OpenMV intelligent camera recognition technology.

A miniature camera module is embedded inside the device's optical window, with its edge deployment capability enabling independent real-time image capture of the user's eye area and utilising technologies such as computer vision and image recognition for identification and detection.

The system automatically identifies the presence of clear pupil structures through algorithms for human eye region localisation, pupil edge detection, and greyscale distribution analysis.

Upon detecting that the user's eyes are open and gazing, the edge AI analyses the pupil position, shape, and brightness reflection characteristics to confirm that "the eyes are open and aligned with the detection area." If eyelid closure, obstruction, or the absence of an effective reflection area is detected, the system immediately determines it as a "closed-eye" state and outputs a disable signal to the main control module.

The OpenMV intelligent camera incorporates high-speed grayscale recognition capability and an adaptive exposure function, ensuring stable detection under laser auxiliary lighting or low-light conditions.

The edge deployment of the entire system supports independent real-time decision-making, with recognition latency under 100 milliseconds, enabling real-time response and security linkage.

The pupil detection system built upon SingTown Technology's OpenMV intelligent camera effectively prevents accidental laser triggering, enhancing the human safety and intelligence level of optical detection equipment.
