In modern drone systems, precise line following and safe landing are core capabilities for achieving autonomous flight and intelligent operations. SingTown Technology's AI smart camera solution, based on the OpenMV platform, utilises machine vision and computer vision algorithms to provide real-time visual navigation support for drones.
In line-following missions, the intelligent camera uses image recognition algorithms to detect ground lines or marker lines, analysing real-time changes in line colour, shape, and direction. It calculates the drone's deviation angle and distance, dynamically adjusting its flight attitude to achieve stable line-following flight.
This solution is particularly suitable for complex scenarios such as power inspection, oil pipeline detection, and road monitoring, maintaining high recognition accuracy even in the presence of ground shadows, uneven surfaces, or lighting variations.
To ensure precise landing, the AI algorithm calculates the relative distance and angle between the drone and the target position by recognising specific patterns (such as circles, QR codes, or custom targets), achieving centimetre-level landing control. The system can also integrate altimeters and inertial sensors to further enhance stability and safety.
The OpenMV intelligent camera boasts a compact size, low power consumption, and minimal latency. Its edge AI can independently carry out recognition and decision-making locally without relying on cloud services, making its edge deployment advantages highly suitable for integration into lightweight drone platforms.
