In train maintenance and factory area management, accurately recording the numerical and character information on vehicle surfaces is crucial for daily maintenance, asset management, and operational scheduling. Traditional manual recording is not only time-consuming but also prone to omissions or errors.
To this end, SingTown Technology has developed an AI smart camera solution based on the OpenMV platform, which utilises machine vision and computer vision technologies to achieve automatic recognition and parsing of text on train surfaces.
The system captures images of the train body surface via cameras, and AI algorithms precisely locate and recognise characters, numbers, and markings, capable of handling different fonts, sizes, and varying contrasts with the body colour. Computer vision technology effectively addresses lighting variations, reflections, or stain interference, ensuring stable and high-precision recognition at a detection distance of 4-5 metres.
The recognition results can be directly transmitted to the vehicle management system or maintenance record platform, enabling information digitisation, automatic archiving, and rapid querying. The OpenMV smart camera offers advantages such as low power consumption, high frame rate, and compact size, along with the unique benefit of edge deployment, facilitating long-term stable operation in fixed installations within factory areas or mobile monitoring equipment.
