GithubIn factory automation monitoring sites, production equipment status is typically displayed on monitoring interfaces such as PLC or DCS screens. When equipment status changes from "running" to "stopped" or an alarm occurs, if unattended or overlooked by monitoring personnel, it can easily lead to production delays or safety risks.
To this end, industrial automation system manufacturers adopt SingTown's OpenMV intelligent camera to construct a condition monitoring system based on machine vision and image recognition. This system performs real-time detection of status areas on screens (such as colour changes and text variations) and automatically issues alert signals or alarms when abnormal conditions are detected.

Industrial automation manufacturers have developed a screen status recognition system based on the OpenMV smart camera, utilizing AI image recognition, color analysis, and OCR text detection technologies to achieve dynamic monitoring of industrial control interfaces. The camera is fixedly installed in front of the display screen, capturing real-time images of designated status areas, such as text or color blocks indicating "Running," "Stopped," "Alarm," and others.
The system utilises colour recognition algorithms to monitor RGB changes in specific screen areas, combined with OCR algorithms to identify textual content alterations. Upon detecting red alert blocks or text changes to "Stop" or "Abnormal," the system immediately outputs a high-level signal to the host computer or buzzer, triggering audible and visual alarms.
The system supports simultaneous monitoring across multiple areas (configurable with multiple detection frames), enabling independent deployment without modifying the existing surveillance system. It provides independent visual detection and safety alerts for status changes.
This solution possesses the unique advantage of edge deployment: no need for communication with PLC, simple installation, strong compatibility, widely applicable in scenarios such as factory automation control rooms, equipment status monitoring stations, and unattended production lines.
