Traditional methods rely on ground sensors or infrared detection, which are highly susceptible to environmental influences and offer limited positioning accuracy.
To enhance the system's intelligence and operational efficiency, car wash equipment manufacturers have adopted SingTown's OpenMV intelligent camera recognition technology. Through AI machine vision and computer vision algorithms, this enables automatic detection and precise positioning control of vehicle wheel positions.

The self-service car wash system, based on SingTown Technology's OpenMV intelligent camera recognition technology, can automatically identify vehicle positions and control the spray arm for precise cleaning.
The intelligent camera is mounted on a scanning device that moves along a guide rail, performing parallel scanning along the vehicle's side to capture real-time images of the vehicle body. It automatically identifies wheel positions using edge detection, circular recognition (Hough transform), and feature matching algorithms. Upon detecting the midpoint area of two consecutive wheels, the system immediately outputs a stop signal, controlling the spray arm or cleaning mechanism to initiate operations at the correct position, thereby achieving automatic alignment cleaning.
The OpenMV intelligent camera possesses edge computing and real-time recognition capabilities, enabling identification and control through on-device AI while moving along the track without the need for an external computer.
The system adapts to distances of 0.5–2 metres, enabling stable wheel recognition under varying lighting conditions and angles. It outputs signals via GPIO or serial ports to achieve positioning control and synchronisation with car wash procedures.
Through SingTown Technology's OpenMV intelligent camera recognition technology, the self-service car wash system has been upgraded from "fast-food-style rough washing" to targeted cleaning that uses AI vision to "see clearly" and make automatic decisions. The application of machine vision and image recognition has significantly enhanced cleaning precision and operational efficiency.
