GithubIn the factory automation monitoring site, the status of production equipment is typically displayed on monitoring interfaces such as PLC or DCS screens. When the equipment status changes from "running" to "stopped" or an alarm occurs, if there is no one on duty or the monitoring personnel are negligent, it can easily lead to production delays or safety risks.
Therefore, industrial automation system manufacturers adopt SingTown's OpenMV intelligent camera to construct a state monitoring system based on machine vision and image recognition. This system conducts real-time detection of status areas on the screen (such as color changes and text variations) and automatically issues alert signals or alarms when abnormal conditions occur.

Industrial automation manufacturers have developed a screen status recognition system based on the OpenMV smart camera, utilizing AI image recognition, color analysis, and OCR text detection technologies to achieve dynamic monitoring of industrial control interfaces. The camera is fixedly installed in front of the display screen, capturing real-time images of designated status areas, such as text or color blocks indicating "Running," "Stopped," "Alarm," and others.
The system employs a color recognition algorithm to monitor RGB changes in specific screen areas, combined with an OCR algorithm to detect textual content alterations. Upon identifying a red alert block or text changes to "Stop" or "Abnormal," the system promptly outputs a high-level signal to the host computer or buzzer, triggering audible and visual alarms.
The system supports simultaneous monitoring across multiple regions (configurable with multiple detection frames), enabling independent deployment without modifying the existing surveillance system. It provides independent visual detection and safety alerts for status changes.
This solution possesses the unique advantage of edge deployment: no need for communication with PLC, simple installation, strong compatibility, widely applicable in scenarios such as factory automation control rooms, equipment status monitoring stations, and unattended production lines.
