GithubIn the factory automation monitoring site, the status of production equipment is typically displayed on monitoring interfaces such as PLC or DCS screens. When the equipment status changes from "running" to "stopped" or an alarm occurs, if it is unattended or the monitoring personnel are negligent, it can easily lead to production delays or safety risks.
To this end, industrial automation system manufacturers adopt SingTown's OpenMV intelligent camera to build a state monitoring system based on machine vision and image recognition. This system performs real-time detection of status areas on screens (such as color changes and text variations) and automatically issues alert signals or alarms when abnormal conditions are detected.

Industrial automation manufacturers have developed a screen status recognition system based on the OpenMV smart camera, utilizing AI image recognition, color analysis, and OCR text detection technologies to achieve dynamic monitoring of industrial control interfaces. The camera is fixedly installed in front of the display screen, capturing real-time images of designated status areas, such as text or color blocks indicating "Running," "Stopped," "Alarm," and others.
The system utilizes a color recognition algorithm to monitor RGB changes in specific areas of the screen and combines it with an OCR algorithm to identify changes in text content. When a red alert block or text changes to "Stop" or "Abnormal" are detected, the system immediately outputs a high-level signal to the host computer or buzzer, triggering audible and visual alarms.
The system supports simultaneous monitoring across multiple regions (configurable with multiple detection frames), enabling independent deployment without modifying the existing surveillance system. It achieves independent visual detection and safety alerts for status changes.
This solution offers the unique advantage of edge deployment: no need for communication with PLCs, easy installation, strong compatibility, and wide applicability in scenarios such as factory automation control rooms, equipment status monitoring stations, and unattended production lines.
