GithubSingTown's AI smart camera system based on OpenMV enables automatic identification and classification of refuse sack colours. Utilising machine vision and image recognition technology, the system can quickly distinguish refuse sacks of different colours such as white, black, and red. It can also integrate with sorting devices or management systems to achieve efficient and intelligent waste sorting and processing, widely applicable in communities, campuses, and industrial settings.

In waste classification and environmental management, the colour of rubbish bags serves as a crucial identifier for distinguishing waste types. However, manual sorting suffers from low efficiency and inconsistent accuracy. SingTown Technology has introduced an AI smart camera solution based on the OpenMV platform, leveraging machine vision and image recognition technology to achieve high-precision identification and intelligent sorting of rubbish bag colours.
The system captures real-time images of waste sacks via the camera, and the AI algorithm analyses colour characteristics, brightness, and morphology to swiftly classify white, black, red, and other coloured waste sacks. Upon completion of recognition, signals can be directly output to the automatic sorting robotic arm or management system, enabling automatic categorisation of waste sacks by colour.
The OpenMV intelligent camera features high sensitivity, low power consumption, and a compact size, supporting edge deployment for long-term stable operation at community waste collection points, park environmental stations, or industrial waste processing lines. The system supports custom model training, enabling optimised recognition of rubbish bags under varying materials, lighting conditions, or mixed backgrounds to ensure classification accuracy.
Through the deep integration of edge AI and computer vision technology, SingTown's intelligent cameras not only 'see' the colour of rubbish bags but also analyse and execute sorting actions in real time.
