GithubIn factory automation monitoring sites, the status of production equipment is typically displayed on monitoring interfaces, such as PLC or DCS screens. When the equipment status changes from "running" to "stopped" or an alarm occurs, if the site is unattended or the monitoring personnel are negligent, it can easily lead to production delays or safety risks.
To this end, industrial automation system manufacturers adopt SingTown's OpenMV intelligent camera to construct a state monitoring system based on machine vision and image recognition. This system performs real-time detection of status areas on screens (such as color changes and text variations) and automatically issues alert signals or alarms when abnormal conditions are detected.

Industrial automation manufacturers have developed a screen status recognition system based on the OpenMV smart camera, which enables dynamic monitoring of industrial control interfaces through AI image recognition, color analysis, and OCR text detection technologies. The camera is fixed in front of the display screen, capturing real-time images of designated status areas, such as text or color blocks indicating "Running," "Stopped," "Alarm," and others.
The system employs a color recognition algorithm to monitor RGB changes in specific screen areas and combines it with an OCR algorithm to identify textual content variations. Upon detecting a red alert block or text changes to "Stop" or "Abnormal," the system immediately outputs a high-level signal to the host computer or buzzer, triggering audible and visual alarms.
The system supports simultaneous monitoring across multiple areas (configurable with multiple detection frames), enabling independent deployment without modifying the existing surveillance system. It provides independent visual detection and safety alerts for status changes.
This solution offers the unique advantage of edge deployment: it requires no communication with PLCs, features simple installation and strong compatibility, making it widely applicable in scenarios such as factory automation control rooms, equipment condition monitoring stations, and unattended production lines.
