When traffic is sparse in one direction while the other direction is severely congested, fixed-duration traffic signal control not only reduces traffic efficiency but also increases energy waste.
To achieve dynamic optimization and intelligent control of traffic signals, the intelligent transportation system incorporates SingTown's OpenMV smart camera AI image recognition technology. Utilizing AI neural network algorithms and machine vision analysis, it detects the number of vehicles and flow distribution on roads in real-time. Based on the results, it dynamically adjusts the duration of traffic signals, thereby enabling adaptive and intelligent regulation of traffic flow.

The Intelligent Transportation System utilizes SingTown Technology's OpenMV intelligent camera recognition technology to construct a vehicle detection and signal control system based on AI image recognition and neural network algorithms.
The camera is installed on one side of the road to capture real-time traffic images. The system uses computer vision algorithms to detect and count the number and direction of passing vehicles. Based on the detected traffic density, it automatically determines the priority of passage for each direction. The data is transmitted via a serial port to the microcontroller control unit to dynamically adjust the duration of traffic lights.
This system solution supports multiple vehicle recognition modes: traditional image detection methods (such as frame difference, color and shape recognition) or neural network models. The OpenMV smart camera features edge computing capabilities, enabling it to run algorithms locally via on-device AI and output results directly, without the need for external computers or cloud servers, ensuring low recognition latency and rapid response.
Therefore, this solution can stably adapt to traffic flow changes, achieving adaptive traffic light control that "extends when traffic is heavy and shortens when traffic is light.
