AI Sentinel Based on OpenMV: Automatic Alert for Unsecured Key Locations

The door is not closed; any incident would constitute a “major accident.” Manual inspections cannot adequately cover the frequent changes in door status. OpenMV enables continuous system monitoring of the door’s status.

If the entrances to the server room, electrical distribution room, and residential units remain open for extended periods, safety incidents such as unauthorized entry, equipment damage, theft, or even electric shock may occur, making this a high-risk area in operations and maintenance management.

Traditional methods primarily rely on manual inspections or access control log reviews, making it difficult to promptly detect frequent changes in door status, with issues often only identified after they occur.

Based on SingTown’s OpenMV smart camera, continuous and automated visual monitoring of access control status can be performed.

After the camera is deployed at the entrance, OpenMV performs door-object recognition on-device and determines whether the door is closed, partially open, or fully open by analysing the door panel’s angle, degree of opening, and morphological changes. Time-based rules can also be applied to differentiate between brief, normal openings and prolonged, abnormal openings.

The system can instantly generate alerts on the device side when a door remains open for an extended period or is opened outside permitted hours, thereby triggering integrated responses with access control systems, operations and maintenance platforms, or on-duty personnel to enable automated handling.

As the decision-making logic runs directly on the camera’s edge device, the system operates stably and responds swiftly—making it highly suitable for mission-critical environments such as server rooms and electrical distribution rooms where continuity and reliability are paramount.
