OpenMV distance shield can measure the distance from the front obstacle, 4 meters range, 1mm accuracy.

The distance shield uses the TOF ranging chip, which measures the distance by measuring “flight time” or the time at which the light is emitted back to the chip.

Compared with the measured emission ultrasound, TOF ranging has a very narrow field of view and is more accurate.

Compared with the measurement of reflective infrared light intensity, TOF ranging is more accurate, and the measurement of infrared intensity can not be judged to be very near or very far.
