GithubIn autonomous drone flight, precise landing is a crucial aspect for achieving intelligence and safety. Traditional landing methods reliant on GPS or inertial navigation often lack sufficient accuracy in densely built-up areas, signal-blocked environments, or complex terrains, leading to drift and errors.
To enhance landing precision and autonomous decision-making capabilities, intelligent flight equipment manufacturers have incorporated SingTown's OpenMV intelligent camera AI image recognition technology. Through machine vision, AI image recognition, and edge-side AI visual algorithms, real-time identification and guidance control of ground targets are achieved, enabling drones to accomplish centimetre-level precision landing.

The intelligent flight equipment manufacturer utilised SingTown's OpenMV smart camera to construct a high-precision vision-guided system for autonomous fixed-point landing of unmanned aerial vehicles.
The system utilises the OpenMV intelligent vision module installed on the underside of the drone to capture real-time ground imagery. It employs built-in AI image recognition algorithms and spatial geometric calculation models to swiftly identify ground targets (such as enlarged AprilTag or custom landing markers) and estimate the drone's relative distance and angle to the target in real time. Based on machine vision positioning and attitude compensation algorithms, the system can detect ground targets from altitudes of 60–80 metres. Through continuous frame analysis and IMU data fusion, it achieves dynamic corrections during the drone's landing process.
SingTown Technology's OpenMV smart camera possesses embedded edge-side AI computing capabilities, enabling high-speed recognition and processing locally without reliance on cloud servers, with a response latency of less than 200 milliseconds. The camera's automatic exposure and white balance functions effectively ensure recognition stability under varying lighting conditions and ground reflections.
The edge deployment capability of this solution enables it to flexibly and seamlessly interface with drone flight control systems, outputting real-time pose information through standard communication protocols (such as MAVLink) to achieve autonomous landing control. Relying on the SingTown technology hardware and software platform, intelligent flight equipment manufacturers can rapidly integrate low-power, high-precision embedded vision modules, significantly enhancing the environmental perception capabilities and flight safety of drones.
Through SingTown Technology's OpenMV intelligent camera recognition technology, drones have achieved an intelligent flight upgrade from "GPS navigation" to "AI visual guidance," providing solid technical support for future low-altitude intelligent connectivity and autonomous flight.
