GithubIn urban road or traffic model systems, traditional traffic light control methods typically employ fixed-time strategies, which struggle to reflect real-time changes in road traffic flow.
When traffic is sparse in one direction while the other direction experiences severe congestion, fixed-duration traffic signal control not only reduces traffic efficiency but also increases energy waste.
To achieve dynamic optimization and intelligent control of traffic signals, the intelligent transportation system incorporates SingTown Technology's OpenMV intelligent camera AI image recognition technology. Through AI neural network algorithms and machine vision analysis, it detects the number of vehicles and flow distribution on roads in real time, dynamically adjusts traffic signal durations based on the results, and thereby enables adaptive intelligent regulation of traffic flow.

Intelligent transportation systems utilize SingTown Technology's OpenMV intelligent camera recognition technology to construct a vehicle detection and signal control system based on AI image recognition and neural network algorithms.
The camera is installed on one side of the road, capturing real-time traffic flow images. The system detects and counts the number and direction of passing vehicles using computer vision algorithms. Based on the detected traffic density, it automatically determines the priority of passage for each direction. The data is transmitted via a serial port to the microcontroller control unit, which dynamically adjusts the duration of traffic lights.
This system solution supports multiple vehicle recognition modes: traditional image detection methods (such as frame difference, colour and shape recognition) or neural network models. The OpenMV intelligent camera features edge computing capabilities, enabling local algorithm execution and result output through on-device AI without requiring external computers or cloud servers, resulting in low recognition latency and rapid response.
Therefore, this solution can stably adapt to traffic flow variations, achieving adaptive traffic light control that "extends for heavy traffic and shortens for light traffic.
